Cranberry Twp. doctor answers questions on spreading Omicron variant to pets

With the Omicron variant spreading rapidly throughout the United States, some pet owners may be concerned about the virus spreading to their dog or cat, or vice-versa.

Dr. Mike Hutchinson of Animal General in Cranberry Township told the KDKA Morning Show that there's good news on that front.

"Some dogs can get it. They don't get real sick from it, but they cannot pass it to us, which is great. Cats are more highly-susceptible to it. Cats can get it and pass it around between cats, but they don't pass it to us either," said Dr. Hutchinson.

He also adds there have been no reports of COVID causing deaths among dogs and cats.
