Does the upset election of Ed Gainey as the Democratic candidate for mayor mean Pittsburgh no longer has a race problem?

Dr Ralph Bangs, former Associate Director, Center on Race and Social Problems at the University of Pittsburgh says no.

"Those poor living conditions did not change from the day before the election to the day after the election, just because we elected Pittsburgh's first Black mayor or presumptive first Black Mayor," said Bangs.

Dr. Bangs, a guest on the Lynnne Hayes-Freeland show on NewsRadio KDKA, says he hopes that the new mayor will have more of an understanding of the disadvantages and difficulties that people of all races have in the city of Pittsburgh.
