The risk of wildfire spread is elevated today according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Mike Kennedy says two factors are behind the wildfire advisory: a high temperature 20 degrees above normal and low relative humidity.
But one thing is missing.
“The one component we’re missing today are winds, which will be very light.”
There are all kinds of different things that can spark a wildfire, including “Believe it or not, parking a car over very dry grass can be one,” said Kennedy.
Residents are urged to use caution handling machinery, cigarettes or matches. The elevated risk area is south of I-80 from now through 7 p.m.
