No Pennsylvania town has been preparing more for the April 8th solar eclipse than Erie.

The Great North American Eclipse will pass through the United States in a 125-mile-wide band, moving directly over Lake Erie near Presque Isle State Park.

Day will turn to night there at 3:16 that afternoon, for 3 minutes and 41 seconds, the longest period of totality in Pennsylvania.

On the Big K Morning Show, Pittsburgh Magazine's Kristy Graver talked about how Erie officials are preparing for the celestial event.

“It’s such a rare event that Erie officials have been planning for it for two years and between 65,000 and 250,000 people are expected in town,” said Graver.

She says Erie officials have dubbed the event, "The Ultimate Sunblock".

The eclipse won’t be total in the Pittsburgh area, but you’ll still notice it getting darker outside.
