Mayor Ed Gainey and Governor Tom Wolf are taking action to repair the Fern Hollow Bridge in Point Breeze.
Up to $25.3 million of federal funding was made available for the repairs that are expected to last at least two years. According to Mayor Gainey's office, this will not impact regional projects that are already funded.
"The City is thankful for the financial and engineering support that PennDOT will be able to provide as a result of this funding announcement," said Mayor Gainey. "My Administration will continue to work with our state and federal partners to repair the bridge in a safe and expeditious manner.
Just seven days ago, Wolf, Gainey and President Joe Biden visited the bridge collapse site, with the President claiming every bridge will be fixed in Pennsylvania.
Allegheny County just released its maintenance report of all the bridges in poor condition, naming those in Ross Township, O'Hara Township, and more.
Local officials are still awaiting on the National Transportation Safety Board to release its final report of the bridge collapse.
