Pittsburgh is embracing its German side next month with an Oktoberfest celebration.
Oktoberfest Pittsburgh will take place in Market Square from October 3-13 in Market Square. It’s organized by the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and Flyspace Productions.
Organizers say it will be a celebration of both Bavarian heritage and the pride of living in Pittsburgh.
Market Square will be transformed into a traditional Oktoberfest village with booths, banners, decorations and more.
Of course, one of the highlights will be beer with a beer tent anchoring the event. It will feature local and German craft beers, along with food like bratwurst, pretzels and strudel.
If that’s not for your, places like Primanti Bros. and the Original Oyster House will be open.
In addition to Market Square there will be a “Karneval” on the Roberto Clemente Bridge during the celebration that will feature games and other activities.
Anchoring the Karneval will be a Ferris wheel on the bridge. Tickets for the wheel go on sale next soon.
While the Ferris Wheel made its grand debut during the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, it was built in Pittsburgh by George Ferris.
