Governor Wolf signs off on several new laws before term ends

Outgoing Governor Tom Wolf signed several laws that will go into effect on January 1st.

One includes the Turnpike Commission being able to request a driver's registration be suspended if they don't pay tolls worth over $250 dollars.

Also, "highly automated vehicles with or without a driver" can be regulated and now operate in PA and Police can no longer pull a driver having a license plate frame partially covering their plate. Although, the plate number must still be visible.

Other laws include, fentanyl test strips being decriminalized, those convicted of sex trafficking must now register as a sex offender, and switchblades are being decriminalized and will no longer be considered an offensive weapon in the state.

In an effort to help firefighter training, 17-year-olds with permission from a fire chief or parent will also be able to enter a burning building.

Governor Wolf’s term is ending in 2023 with new democratic elect Josh Shapiro taking over.
