President Donald Trump’s promises to crackdown on immigration and deport undocumented immigrants has people flooding the phone lines at a local Law Firm.
Allegheny Immigration Attorney Patrick Murphy says, right now, there is a feeling of desperation and chaos in the Pittsburgh area.
“People are concerned about their status, they’re concerned in getting caught up in whatever is about to happen, they’re concerned about being deported, separation from their loved ones, maybe, in some cases to countries they don’t even know anymore,” said Murphy.
He says some are worried about their right to get asylum is going to be taken away.
Murphy says without a warrant, officials don’t have the right to go into a residence.
“If they tell you they have a warrant, make them show it to you, put it under the door or show it at the window” said Murphy. “You have a right to not answer questions, you have a right to ask for a lawyer.”
Murphy adds fliers will be distributed around the Mon Valley and on social media sites to help educate the public.
Murphy recognized that immigration is the “big issue” around the Trump campaign and will continue to be an important topic for his administration.

Murphy adds one thing you can do right away, if you have concerns is, "don't let social media drive you out of your mind. There's a lot of 'sky is falling' rhetoric being spread out there."
CBS News reported Wednesday afternoon, "A US official says approximately 1,000 additional active-duty forces are preparing to go to the southern border, following President Trump's executive order to beef up the US military presence there."
