McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko is responding as hundreds of residents go without water for at least a week.

In a letter Monday, Mayor Cherepko said they're working tirelessly to fix the issues and expedite the process. McKeesport's Tenth Ward is asked not to use their water after a fire at McKeesport Auto Body Friday night.

There was concern that a fire-suppression agent entered the water system.

Water Buffaloes are at R&W Oil and Penn American's treatment plant on Atlantic Avenue.

Residents can take a shower at McKeesport Are High School.

But one resident says that is not enough.

Barbara Girgash of McKeesport tells KDKA Radio not only is the situation inconvenient, but also expressed her displeasure with the water buffalo situation

“They only have two locations for the water buffaloes in the neighborhood and one is at one distant end and the other is at another end and they’re approximately a mile apart,” said Girgash.

Girgash adds many residents in the area are older and have difficulty getting around.
