An off-duty police officer shot a Pit Bull that allegedly attacked him and his dog.
According to Pittsburgh Police, the officer was walking his dog along Middletown Road around 6:30am Thursday morning when the attack occurred.
The officer reportedly yelled at the dog in an attempt to get it to stay back, but he said it continued at him in an aggressive manner. He shot the dog in the paw.
Animal Care and Control spoke with the pit bull's owner. They say that the owner did not have a proper permit or shots for the dog.
The officers and his dog were unharmed.
