We have an update now on that oil spill in Lovedale, Elizabeth Township. PennDOT is confirming it was one of their vehicles involved in the spill at the Lovedale stockpile, PennDOT tells KDKA Radio that as soon as they became aware of the spill, they immediately contacted HAZMAT and the DEP for cleanup. The PennDOT tanker leaked about a thousand gallons of D-3 oil, described as a binding agent similar to glue that solidifies quickly. It sank to the bottom of Wylie Run, which runs into the Mon River. DEP officials say the spill led to a fish kill and has also affected plant life in the area. Officials say they will continue to monitor the situation.
