PA State Police large scale animal neglect in Slippery Rock

Pennsylvania State Police in Butler County are investigating after a large case of animal cruelty and child endangerment.

Troopers executed a search warrant at a residence in Slippery Rock Thursday where they found “signs of neglect and starvation” affecting all of the animal on the property.

Several dead animals were found in various states of decomposition throughout the property, including a basset hound, a chicken, a duck and 10 alpacas.

The owner of the property surrendered another 60 living animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, alpacas and a horse to the ANNA Shelter in Erie, PA.

Several children live at the residence but were not there at the time of the search.

Child Youth Services were contacted and responded to the scene.

Police say the children are safe.

In investigation is ongoing.
