The PA Game Commission Southwest Region served a warrant on Tuesday after it was discovered someone was trying to keep a deer as a pet in Fayette County.

The Game Commission says an investigation was started after a white-tailed deer was taken from the wild unlawfully.

A Game Warden saw a buck wearing a dog collar in Bullskin Township on Tuesday with a “vehicle driving net to it trying to escort it to a nearby property.”

Further investigation showed the deer had been castrated and its was altered so its antlers wouldn’t grow.

The deer was taken to a licensed facility.

It is illegal in Pennsylvania to take an animal from the wild and make it a pet.

“The execution of the search warrant also resulted in the arrest of an individual who was charged with interfering with the investigation,” The Game Commission said in a statement.

Anyone that seeing a sick, injured or abandoned wild animal is asked to call the PA Game Commission at 1-833-742-9453.
