Earlier this month, the mayor's office said Ed Gainey planned to nominate a police chief within two weeks.
That was almost three weeks ago. It's been nine months since the former chief left.
Beth Pittinger, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Citizen Police Review Board, told KDKA-TV the process should have never dragged on like this:
Mayor Gainey recently quashed reports he offered the job to Ryan Lee, who was asked to resign as police chief in Boise, Idaho.
The mayor's office says a nominee will be announced as soon as due diligence is complete.
