A Pittsburgh-area dentist turned developer is among the 15 people that were pardoned by President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Alfonso Costa was convicted of health care fraud in 2007 and was among those who received a full pardon.
Costa had the support of Dr. Ben Carson, a member of Trump's administration and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis.
Costa's practice was in Oakland and Murrysville.
Both Carson and Bettis testified on Costa's behalf during his sentencing hearing after he plead guilty to health care fraud.
Costa paid about $300,000 in fines and got probation.
Costa is now the chairman of Costa Land Company, a real estate development business that has properties in Pennsylvania and three other states. The company also has property in Italy.
