A Pittsburgh man is facing life in prison for a federal firearms charge.
Acting U.S. Attorney Stephen Kaufman announced today that 21-year-old Jaimone Robinson pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm while trafficking drugs.
In January of 2019 Robinson was caught with fentanyl and heroin as well as a handgun, the serial number of which had been destroyed.
Text messages on Robinson's phone show that he had acquired the drugs and had plans to sell the drugs to others.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 21, 2021. Robinson is facing up to life in prison, a $250,000 fine or both.
A number of law enforcement agencies, both federal and local were involved in the investigation of the case including the Allegheny County Police, the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, Green Tree Police, Mount Oliver Police, Pittsburgh Police and Pennsylvania State Police.
In addition, the New York City Police and Yonkers Police Department were also part of the investigation.
