A Pittsburgh police officer was struck by a car in a hit and run overnight.
According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, the incident began after a driver was pulled over at the intersection of McKinley Street and Grogran Avenue for a suspected DUI.
According to a release, the driver couldn't provide a driver's license, and then fled the scene, striking the officer in the leg.
The vehicle turned down a dead-end road, hitting a tree.
The driver was transported to a local hospital, and then taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
The officer was not seriously hurt. According to the report, the driver had an outstanding warrant and a large amount of narcotics were recovered from inside the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
