A warrant has been issued by police for the cousin of a Beaver County man who was shot in the head and put in the trunk of his own vehicle.

28 year old Junaid Akhlas from Beaver was found dead in the trunk at a gas station on University Boulevard Tuesday. Police say he had a gunshot wound to the head.

Wednesday an arrest warrant was given to 25-year-old Anoosh Almas, Akhlas's cousin. Police believe Almas flew to Mexico a few hours after the homicide.

According to a criminal complaint, Akhlas was supposed to take Almas to the airport Monday night. Akhlas went missing and his family went looking for him. They found his vehicle at the gas station and called police.

The complaint also states a pistol that belonged to Almas was found behind the gas station. It also says a few hours after the crime Almas rented a hotel and discarded a bag filled with bloody clothes. Then he took a Lyft to the airport and flew to Cancun.

It is not known if Almas is still in Cancun

He is being charged with criminal homicide, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
