Officers stood by in East Liberty as a precaution, but all was peaceful as protesters spoke out against the killing of Nichols.

"I am sick of innocent people being brutally murdered. We are all sick of seeing people brutally murdered." says Dakota Castro-Jarret of Socialist Alternative Pittsburgh.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation Pittsburgh hosted the rally, Kira Glass is one of the group's organizers.

"We won't stop until there is justice for every victim of senseless police violence, until there are no more police killings in the first place,” lamented Glass.

Protester were active in major cities all across the country from New York to Los Angeles, who also saw the death of Keenan Anderson earlier this month to police brutality as well.

Before the release of the video, Nichols’ family requested that protesters remain peaceful in their efforts for justice.

The five officers in Nichols' case are charged with murder and fired from the department.
