A report from a Green Tree nonprofit says Allegheny County lost 50,000 jobs in the last five year, five times more than any county in Pennsylvania.

The report from Pittsburgh Works Together also finds the county's economy was the worst performing urban core of any major metro in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Rich Cupka whose family has owned a business on the South Side since 1908, tells The Big K Morning Show he's not shocked by either the population loss or the job loss in the region:

“If you look at the product that the City of Pittsburgh provides, it’s not good,” said Cupka. “Public safety is miserable, the Pittsburgh Public Schools are in the bottom 10 percent of the state and wherever you look, there’s problems.”

The study was intended to spotlight the challenges facing the next Allegheny County executive, who will take office in 2024.
