Following Idlewild Park’s opening this past weekend, Sandcastle will open on Saturday, May 27 and promises to be “better, brighter and faster than ever.”
Some of the highlights include the new “Bomb’s Away” a waterslide that has a 305-foot-long freefall with riders moving at 26 feet per second.
The Mon Tsunami and Mushroom Pool has a “new brick façade, backdrops and waterfall element.”
The Dragon’s Den was made over in the offseason with a water-spraying dragon “at the ride’s entrance and adventurers taking the plunge into the darkness of the mist-shrouded abyss will meet the newest inhabitant inside the den.”
Upgrades have also been made to The Boardwalk and features a new play area called the Sandbox, the full debut of the Sandcastle Bridge Bar and Grill and Dipped Cone from Kennywood will now be offered at Sandcastle.
“We are looking forward to welcoming guests to the brand-new Sandcastle this season, with eye-catching upgrades throughout the entire park,” said Assistant General Manager, Zach Zapf. “The team has been working hard to elevate the park experience in every way. Our guests are sure to be wowed by all the improvements.”
