There's a settlement in the case of a 14-year-old girl sexually assaulted by her manager at a Bethel Park McDonald's.

43-year-old Walter Garner was already a registered sex offender when he became the manager at a Bethel Park McDonald's.

That's where he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old employee in 2021.

The girl's family sued McDonald's and its local franchisee for hiring Garner in the first place.

Their attorney Alan Perer announced a $4.35 million settlement Monday.

“How does a known sex offender get hired and be permitted to manage underage girls between 14 and 17 years of age?” asked L.H.’s attorney, Alan Perer of SPK: The Law Firm of Swensen & Perer. “This question is especially pertinent since McDonald’s markets itself to young people as ‘Committed to Being America’s Best First Job.’”

Garner already pleaded guilty and is serving a 4 to 10-year prison sentence in connection with the case.
