
Seven men are accused of stealing cash and jewelry this week from people at truck stops and rest areas in Westmoreland, Washington and Somerset counties.
During the alleged two day crime spree, police say the first robbery happened Tuesday at the Welcome Center on I 70 in Donegal, Washington County, where a man said five men took about 200 dollars from him, then fled.
The robbers then came up to three people at another Truck stop and claimed a trucker won 50,000 dollars in a lottery jackpot and was giving cash to people at the truck stop.
The robbers offered to double the cash in the men's wallets and the value of the rings on their fingers...when the men pulled out their wallets, the robbers snatched it and their rings and took off.
In all, the robbers took more than 21 thousand dollars in jewerly and other valuables. the men were arrested Thursday in Westmoreland County.
6 of the men are from Cincinnati, one is from Knoxville, Tennesee.
