Several construction projects to be aware of this weekend

Some major roadways in the Pittsburgh area are closed or will close. Here are some traffic updates to be aware of this weekend.

Boulevard of the Allies – Friday at 8 p.m., Closed between McDevitt Place and Jumonville Street. Also, the ramp from 5th Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies and the ramp to the Parkway East will close through early Monday.

Parkway East – Friday at 9 p.m., The ramp from the outbound Parkway East to Forbes Avenue will shutdown for construction through 5 a.m. Monday.

Monaca-Rochester Bridge – The Beaver County bridge that connects the two communities is closed through August 20, 2024 for repair and other construction work.

Roberto Clemente Bridge – Also known as the Sixth Street Bridge, one of the three Sister Bridges was closed Wednesday for a film shoot and will close again on Saturday for a Run/Walk. The bridge will be closed from 6:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m.

Smithfield Street Bridge – The bridge that connects Downtown Pittsburgh to the Station Square area will be closed Friday night, June 14 through early morning Monday, June 17 (weather permitting) with crews doing repairs.

Route 51 – There will be traffic restrictions on parts of Route 51 North in McKees Rocks over “the next few days” according to the McKees Rocks Police Department.

Sewickley Bridge – Single-lane restrictions will take place on the bridge Saturday from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. for work.

Interstate 79 - single-lane restriction starts Friday southbound on I-79 in Robinson and Kennedy townships. The lane closure between the Route 60 and Airport interchanges runs tonight from 7 p.m. through 6 a.m.
Monday while construction workers are patching concrete.

The T’s Red Line – Pittsburgh Regional Transit says the Red line will be closed between June 16 through the end of August while crews work on “several safety-critical construction projects.” During the closure, trips on the red line will be detoured to the Blue Line and will be called the “Blue Line” “to avoid confusion.”
