A Sewickley Borough police officer has died after a lengthy battle with leukemia.
Officer Mark Smilek served in law enforcement for over 25 years.
He survived the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon before becoming a Sewickley officer.
Funeral arrangements for Officer Smilek are pending.
