A sports bar in the Strip District has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department after a recent inspection.
Upscale Elite Sports Lounge on Penn Avenue was ordered closed after it was found to be operating without a valid health permit, as well as other violations.
“High-risk” violations include inspectors finding evidence of smoking happening in the kitchen and no three-compartment sink in the kitchen or bar area.
A three-compartment sink is needed to wash, rinse and sanitize items.
The Health Department say that plans were not submitted before construction of the bar and it opened without an official inspection.
In addition to a valid health permit, the Upscale Elite must submit construction plans, get a plumbing inspection and “provide at least a 10-day notice prior scheduling the pre-operational inspection.”
The bar was ordered closed on December 20 and as of December 30 remains active.
