A taco place in Bloomfield has been ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department.
In an inspection, El Pariente Taco Shop on Liberty Avenue had food at improper temperatures, cold holding areas not working, a lack of a thermometer to monitor food temperatures, a ventilation hood not working and sink issues, including it being blocked.
The high-risk violation was the cold holding temperature issue.
Raw ground beef and sliced lettuce was above the allowed temperature at 44 degrees. Food must be held at 41 degrees or lower.
The location was also operating with a valid permit and didn’t submit plans to the ACHD before opening and some of the food is prepared at a residential home.
When open, El Pariente offers chicken, steak, ground beef, sausage, pork and lamb tacos, rice and beans, chips and salsa along with soups and other Mexican fare.
The restaurant was ordered closed on May 30 and as of June 2, has not been allowed to reopen.
