It’s been nearly two years since Pittsburghers last saw Alby Oxenreiter on their local TVs, after a life-threatening health scare.
Oxenreiter had been covering Pittsburgh sports for nearly 40 years.
He was with WTAE for 10 years before joining FOX-53 and then WPXI beginning in 2006.
One of Rob Owen’s readers in the Tribune Review recently asked about Oxenreiter.
While we don’t know what the future holds for “The Ox” he does say he’s getting better.
Alby had serious health issues a couple years ago, a blood infection and heart valve replacement surgery.
The Pittsburgh native tells KDKA Radio, “I’m keeping my focus on my recovery. I’m not able to return to the rigorous schedule and the demands of my job.”
While we don’t know what the future hold for Alby professionally, we’re happy to hear his health is getting better.
