Paul Ellis joins me this week to talk about the August Wilson House located in the historic Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
August Wilson was an Pulitzer award-winning playwright known for his stage plays "Fences", and "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" which were made into Netflix movies filmed here in Pittsburgh. He wrote many plays that told the stories that depicted the fabric of African Americans and was referred to as the "theater's poet of Black America".
The August Wilson House symbolizes art, community, engagement, outreach, and legacy! Paul Ellis is playwright August Wilson's nephew, and he tells me that the August Wilson House will bring new programs for the residents of the Hill.
