There are new details from investigators on a missing Whitehall teen who was safely found four and a half hours away from Pittsburgh.

During Wednesday’s news conference, Whitehall Chief of Police Jason Gagorik, says a joint investigation involving Whitehall Borough Police, the FBI Pittsburgh, the U.S. Secret Service, and Allegheny County Police led to her recovery and the arrest of 27-year-old Christopher P. Jones.

“FBI agents, assigned to the middle district of Pennsylvania, located Jones’ vehicle at his residence Monday afternoon and immediately set up surveillance,” said Jones. “At approximately 9:30 that night, on Monday May 4, agents entered the residence, safely locating the teen inside, Christopher Jones was immediately taken into custody on the warrant obtained by the Whitehall Police Department. The teen was transported to a local medical facility in the eastern part of the state as a precaution and she has been reunited with her family.”

Investigators say social media played a role, but the case remains under investigation, limiting what details can be released.
