Woodland Hills High School has dismissed for the day after a reported bomb threat on social media.
Superintendent Dr. Daniel Castagna says they received a courtesy call from Gateway Schools that forced them to evacuate. A few minutes later they got a call that a Snapchat was seen by a student that made threats of an explosion at Woodland Hills later Wednesday.
Woodland Hills, along with Churchill Police decided to evacuate the high school and increase security at other building in the district.
A full sweep of the building is underway and all after school activities are canceled Wednesday.
“In our professional opinion, we do not feel the threat is credible and we are investigating the source with all of our resources,” Castagna said in a post on Facebook. “Emptying the building will allow for a more thorough sweep and also time to fully investigate the origin of the message.”
He also encourages parents to speak with their children about the dangers of posting online.
“I can promise you, nothing is anonymous,” said Castagna.
