
Another large grocer/retailer could be looking at moving in the Pittsburgh region.
According to the Pittsburgh Business Times, Michigan-based Meijer is looking at possible locations for future sites in the area.
In addition to groceries, Meijer also sells electronics, outdoor items, clothing, shoes and more.
Meijer was founded 90 years ago in Greenville, Michigan and operates nearly 260 stores, mainly in the Midwest.
The closest Meijer location to Pittsburgh is currently about an hour away in Boardman, Ohio.
The news of Meijer looking at Western PA comes a week after it was reported that East Coast grocery chain Wegmans could be looking at opening a location in the Cranberry area.
No word on locations or when Meijer could open a location in the region.
There could already be a connection with Meijer in the area.
The company is reportedly invested in Fresh Thyme Farmers Markets, which operates three locations in the Pittsburgh region.
