Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey announced Tuesday that Brian Walshe has been charged with murdering his wife, Ana Walshe. The couple is from Cohasset, Mass.
Authorities have been searching for the 39-year-old mother of three since shortly after New Year’s. Brian Walshe, 47, has pleaded not guilty.
Morrisey said that Brian was being held at the Norfolk County House of Corrections Tuesday and would be transported to the Quincy District Court for arraignment on the murder charge.
Additional details are “likely to be presented at arraignment, but will not be disclosed at this time,” he said.
Ana went missing after throwing a New Year party with Brian. He said she had left town for a work emergency.
Earlier this month, authorities announced that Brian was arraigned on the charge of misleading a police investigation. He pleaded not guilty to that charge as well.
Authorities, said he made a trip to a local home improvement store to purchase a tarp and cleaning supplies in the days after his wife went missing. According to CNN, Brian was already awaiting sentencing for a previous federal fraud conviction regarding fake Andy Warhol paintings sold on eBay and was wearing an ankle monitor. His shopping trip was not approved, per reports.
During an investigation into the incident, a knife was also found, as well as blood in a basement area. Unnamed law enforcement sources told CNN that investigators hoped to collect blood samples from Ana Walshe’s sons to compare against the blood found. Sources cited by the outlet also said Brian’s internet record showed searches about “how to dispose of a 115-pound woman’s body.”
This is the second charge of domestic violence homicide in Norfolk County in less than a month, according to Morrissey.
“Our thoughts are very much with the families these crimes have left behind,” he said.
