Pennsylvania is seeing a drop in liquor sales, as sales are dropping back to pre-pandemic numbers.
The state reached record sales in the 2020-21 fiscal year during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the 2021-22 fiscal year resulted in a 3.4% drop in sales.
The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board was still able to bring in $2.12 billion and actually saw a resurgence in their licensing sales increase by $137 million.
They run around 575 Fine Wine and Good Spirits and issue licensing to sell out to bars and restaurants all across the state.
The PLCB doesn't see the dip in retail sales as unusual though, as it's assumed people are just returning to bars instead of having to drink at home like in the lockdown.
Thanks to liquor sales, over $839 million got distributed to the PA General Fund in the last fiscal year.
Allegheny County also took the top spot for counties that bought the most liquor from stores, singlehandedly spending over $348 million.
Unflavored vodka was the biggest seller, taking the top sport in Allegheny County along with 51 others. 35% of sales came from the top three counties in Allegheny, Philadelphia, and Montgomery.
