Applications for PA's property tax and rent rebate program now being accepted

Thousands of older and disabled Pennsylvanians can now get a rebate on property taxes or rent they paid last year, through a 50-year-old program.

The Wolf Administration announced today that applications are now being accepted for the Commonwealth's Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program.

Eligible seniors and disabled Pennsylvanians can now apply for rebates on 2020 property taxes or rent payments if they meet certain qualifications.

"The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for qualifying home owners can boost rebates to $975," said State Secretary of Revenue Dan Hassell.

According to Hassell, more than $6.8 Billion Dollars has been refunded to qualified applicants since the program began in 1971. He said eligibility is explain on the state's website. revenue.pa.gov

Department of Aging Secretary Robert Torres those who do not have access to the internet should contact their local Agency on Aging for information.

Officials say rebate payments should begin arriving in July.
