HARRISBURG (NewsRadio KDKA) — Financial website WalletHub analyzed the number of working moms and dads nationwide.
And in their newest study, WalletHub has ranked all the states based on their rates of working parents, especially dads, based on several factors: male life expectancy, rate of uninsured males, unemployment rates for dads with children under 18, the average length of workday, percentage of physically active men, and day care costs and quality.
The study found that Pennsylvania ranked very highly in one of the categories above.
The commonwealth ranked first overall in the unemployment rate for dads with kids younger than 18.
That was the only ranking that Pennsylvania received that was in the top 10, however.
The next closest ranking was 11th for the rate of uninsured males.
Standings in other categories are as followed, but the remaining rankings fall in the 20s and 30s:
33rd – Male Life Expectancy
22nd – Percent of Kids Younger than 18 with Dad Present Living in Poverty
1st – Unemployment Rate for Dads with Kids Younger than 18
11th – Male Uninsured Rate
26th – Avg. Length of Work Day (in Hours) for Males
20th – Percent of Physically Active Men
34th – Child Care Costs (Adjusted for Median Family Income)
21st – Day Care Quality
There is a deep dive analysis on the WalletHub website for a more in-depth understanding of the breakdown.
