PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Olivia Babcock continues to cement herself as not only the best college women’s volleyball player in the country, but the best in Pitt history with another historic performance in Louisville on Sunday.
The junior set a program record with 41 kills, the most kills by any player in college volleyball this season and just the fourth player in Division 1 since 2019 to have at least 40 kills in a match. And she led the Panthers to a comeback, five-set win at fourth-ranked Louisville (25-20, 19-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-11).
The California native hit .423 with eight digs, five blocks and a pair of service aces as well. Senior Brooke Mosher had 60 assists and 13 digs and Blaire Bayless had 11 kills and eight digs on Sunday.
Babcock was the 2024 National Player of the Year and has helped the Panthers to national semi-final appearance in her two seasons. The California native has 1,313 career kills in just 87 career matches.
The sixth-ranked Panthers (15-3, 7-1 ACC) are home to NC State at 7p on Friday and 1p next Sunday against Wake Forest, both games at the Fitzgerald Field House.
