Jared Jones returning to rotation Tuesday against Cubs
The Pirates have announced Jared Jones is making his first start since going on the injured list.
The right-handed rookie will start at PNC Park Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs.
Jones last pitched on July 3 in a 5-4 win against he St. Louis Cardinals. He was placed on the injured list with a lat strain shortly after, missing nearly two months of action.
He's made three rehab starts for Triple-A Indianapolis. His last start was impressive, giving up only one hit and striking out 10.
Jones is 5-6 this season with the Pirates. He has started 16 games and has a 3.56 ERA over 91 innings pitched.
He's struck out 98 batters and walked 27 over 16 starts.
The Pirates will send out Mitch Keller on Monday night against the Cubs and then on Wednesday, Paul Skenes will start the 12:35 p.m. series finale.
