According to one Steelers insider, the team may be interested in signing a backup Miami Dolphins quarterback.

Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac says that Jacoby Brissett, “could be an option because of his past relationship with four current Steelers assistant coaches, including offensive coordinator Matt Canada.”
The 29-year-old was drafted by the New England Patriots in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL draft.
After one year in New England, Brissett spent four seasons in Indianapolis. In two seasons as a starter he went 4-11 and 7-8 in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
Last season, Brissett signed a one-year deal with Miami where he started two games for then Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, who is now the Steelers senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach.
Brissett went 2-3 over five starts with Miami last season.
Overall, Brissett has through 36 touchdowns, 17 interceptions with 7,742 yards and a quarterback rating of 83.0.
As Dulac points out, Brissett was at North Carolina State when Canada was offensive coordinator, running backs coach Eddie Faulkner and wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson were also NC State coaches at the time.
Brissett does fit the mold of a mobile quarterback and has a good arm at 6-foot04 235lbs.
Brissett made $5 million with Miami last season.
