PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – ‘Myles is a Hall of Famer’, Aaron Rodgers first couple of words as he discussed the challenge of Cleveland All-Pro defensive lineman Myles Garrett, comparing him to the greatest of this era. Also, Rodgers’ thoughts on the Steelers-Browns rivalry.

“He’s one of the few players in the league that over my 21 years that you game plan for,” Rodgers said Wednesday. “You watch the film and every team has a plan. There has been a few guys over the years, not many, there’s been a few guys over the years like that.”

The 29-year-old Garrett has 13 career sacks, 14 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles in his career against the Steelers. Overall in nine seasons, 106.5 sacks, 124 tackles for loss, 208 quarterback hits, 20 forced fumbles. He leads the NFL in tackles for loss so far this season with eight.

Rodgers said the Steelers have a similar player. He said with the Jets last year their plan was to get four hands on TJ Watt every single play and not let him dominate the game. Rodgers said Garrett is also in the same category with JJ Watt and Aaron Donald.

“Myles is a special talent, has been since his first year in the league,” Rodgers said. “He’s a game wrecker.”

Rodgers said he can help it all by getting the ball out of his hands quickly Sunday.

1st Browns game

It’s his 21st year in the NFL, there isn’t much Rodgers hasn’t seen. This is his first AFC North rivalry game, so he said he sought out Patrick Queen’s council because he’s played for the Steelers and Ravens.

Rodgers said when he was with the Packers, the Vikings rivalry was intense, saying the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin just had a lot of bad blood and hatred. There was a great rivalry with Chicago as well because it was a 100-year battle between big Chicago and little Green Bay.

“It seems like with this the rivalry is with the Browns and the hatred goes both ways between Steelers-Bengals and Steelers-Ravens,” Rodgers said.
