PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He may have been the biggest surprise cut after training camp, now linebacker Mark Robinson returns to the Steelers on Tuesday with a few other moves.
Robinson was a Steelers project, drafted in the seventh round in 2022. He only played linebacker a couple of years at Ole Miss after transferring there and moving from running back. Due to injury, he started two games at linebacker in each of his first two seasons, but last year only played eight defensive snaps. Even with not getting on the field on defense, he played over 300 special teams snaps for a second straight year. Robinson was a fixture on those units, but the team had other options. Overall in 44 career NFL games, 50 tackles (35 solo), three forced fumbles, a sack and a tackle for loss.
After his release he was picked up by the Patriots and played against the Steelers in Week 3 and then played three games with the Jets. The 26-year-old joins the Steelers practice squad along with defensive back Daequan Hardy. To make move on the roster, WR John Rhys Plumlee and defensive end KJ Henry were released.
