Thursday is Homeless Connect Day in North Hollywood, and around 40 vendors set up shop to bring goods and services to those people who need them.

KNX News’s Jon Baird reported that booths were set up at 11839 Sherman Way, where vendors offered food, clothing, transportation, and even mental health care.

“We really want to make sure that they are meeting their basic needs, from clothing to food to if they need a shower,” Bernice Saavedra with LA Family Housing told Baird. “We have, at times, haircuts available for anyone when possible. We partner with the DMV office to come and be able to obtain their ID, and they had shoes and clothing available too, and hygiene kits.”

Dakota Miles went to the event. She told Baird she’s frustrated with trying to put a roof over her head as she keeps getting turned down.

“I've been homeless for over 5 years, and I'm getting discouraged,” she said. “I just got a part-time work. I just completed Chrysalis. It's a program for individuals that have barriers or employment and I just need help, and I keep getting turned around.”
