
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Paramedics rushed a critically wounded California Highway Patrol officer to the hospital after being shot during a traffic stop Monday night in Studio City, authorities confirmed.
The alleged shooter was taken into custody on Tuesday morning.
It happened in the 4500 block of Laurel Canyon Blvd., south of the 101 Freeway, just before 8 p.m., according to KNX News reporter Brian Douglas. He advised drivers to avoid the area.


First responders rushed the officer to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, KABC reported.
The suspected shooter drove off after firing and was still on the loose, possibly in a white sedan, KCBS said.
Police deployed helicopters to search the area nearby. CBS reported the suspect may have abandoned the vehicle somewhere in the San Fernando Valley.
The suspect was identified as 33-year-old military veteran Pejhmaun Iraj Khosroabadi. Officials described him as 5'10, 210 pounds, and has auburn hair with brown eyes.
On Tuesday, officers conducted a search in the Van Nuys area when around 9 a.m., the suspect was arrested after being found in a tent in a homeless encampment on Gloria Avenue, according to City News Service.
During a press conference on Tuesday, officers said the CHP officer is a 27-year-old male and is in critical but stable condition. He's expected to make a recovery.
The shooting happened near Campbell Hall, a private, K-12 Episcopal day school. According to its website, the school had closed hours early at 3:30 p.m.
