Faith Hill is a native of Star, Mississippi, and is asking for the state to change their flag, to one that represents all citizens.
According to PEOPLE, Hill took to Twitter this week asking that the flag be voted out. The flag of Mississipi remains the only flag in the U.S. that contains a Confederate emblem.
The state flag has been around since 1894, and a vote is expected today from the legislature.
Now, it is time for the world to meet the Mississippi of today and not the Mississippi of 1894 (when the MS legislature voted on the current flag).
