Harrison Ford is putting that bomber jacket on again.
As previously reported, a fifth Indian Jones movie is in production, and today it’s announced that filming will begin next week at UK studio, Pinewood, and at other locations in the UK.
Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, was caught on camera this week at Pinewood. Other cast members will include Mads Mikkelsen (“Another Round”), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Shaunette Renée Wilson (“The Resident”), and Thomas Kretschmann (“Avengers: Age of Ultron”).
James Mangold (“Logan”) is directing, under the tutelage of producer and co-Indy creator, Steven Spielberg.
While no title has been announced and plot lines are kept even deeper under wraps, Deadline reports that “rumors include a 1960s space race theme, but local reports in the UK also point to a shoot at Bamburgh castle.” Considering the thin details, they’ve nailed an exact release date -- June 29, 2022.
The film looks to land nearly 14 years after Ford last strapped the whip to his hip. The last film in the franchise, 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” got a middling reception in the U.S., but made over $800 million worldwide, so another chapter was bound to happen.
There’s sure to be loads of action, so given Ford’s age and assumed reduced strength of that hip, to cross-franchise toast, May the Force be with you, Harrison!
