Happy Friday! I'm just kinda saying that. You see,
my beautiful, wonderful daughter is turning 11 years old tomorrow. It's exciting, fills my dark soul with true joy... and makes me feel old... BUT, her birthday PARTY is tonight. In my home, my sanctuary, the place I go to find peace. Peace will not be found.
I wanna be clear, the assured insanity of tonight isn't related to anyone's behavior. No, my daughter and her friends are actually remarkably well behaved. The problem is the sound. I don't know if you are familiar with the screechy, upper- octave audio that accompanies a collection of young girls, but I assure you that it is not for the faint of heart. Or for anyone who has even a whiff of hearing. It's constant and it is the response to any and everything. Picture the sound of the girls screaming when the Beatles took the stage at the Ed Sullivan show. It's like that.
All bitching aside, I'm excited for her. Not for me, but for her.
Ah, the life of a parent. It is ALWAYS weird. Always.
I'm outta here (to buy earplugs) so until Monday, do what you do best and STAY BEAUTIFUL!"
