It was a disappointing final for the St. Louis Cardinals in Clearwater, Fla. today, but the box score for pitchers looked great in the 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Led by Jack Flaherty with nine strikeouts of his own, St. Louis fanned 16 batters on the day. Jordan Hicks got four (all in one inning), then Andrew Miller, Alex Reyes and Genesis Cabrera each added a strikeout of their own.

You read that right for Hicks, he got all four of his K's in one inning thanks to a dropped third strike.

The outing for Flaherty was probably the best Cardinals spring training pitching performance since Lance Lynn in 2014, when he fanned 10 Atlanta Braves batters, including the final eight in a row.

This was Reyes' first appearance in a game since May. He allowed a run, on one hit and walked two batters.

The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday against the New York Yankees in Tampa Bay at 12:05. Our Tom Ackerman and Chris Hrabe will be on the call again.
