A flash flood warning went out to the St. Louis area on Thursday afternoon, just two days after historic flooding occurred.

KMOX's Kevin Killeen was out in the storm, at the Schnuck's on Lindell west of Vandeventer. He said water levels had gotten up to headlights on several cars that were stuck in the parking lot.

Killeen talked to one employee who said she actually swam out to her car and had to be rescued -- the water was up to her neck. She said that now, her car is totaled, and that she's never seen anything like this.

As flood waters continued to rise, St. Louis residents called into the Dave Glover Show to share their experiences.

One caller said their house and street were flooding -- for the second time this week.

"Two feet in our basement again, and probably 18 inches in the street again," he said. "So I'm lucky I got out of there."

Another caller pointed out what he saw as the overarching issue.

"The weather changes we're experiencing on a daily basis give such credence to climate change," he told DGS. The United States Geological Survey reports that climate change does cause increased intensity and frequency of extreme weather events.

Businesses like Left Bank Books have reported that their basements were flooded, and the St. Louis Fire Department reported that people were trapped inside a daycare facility on the 4700 block of Washington.

The St. Louis Fire Department took to Twitter to remind people not to drive through standing water -- turn around.
