A shooting in west Wichita began as a road rage incident. The Wichita Police Department says officers responded to a shots fired call at around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday night near Central and Ridge Rd.

The officers found a man, 35, with a single gunshot wound and he was transported to an area hospital.  Investigators say they believe it began as a road-rage incident between two drivers.

The man who was shot had been traveling westbound on Central when he got into a verbal altercation with another driver, who was also traveling westbound.

The two vehicles stopped on central and the man, 35, got out of his vehicle and approached the other driver.  An altercation ensued, which led to a single shot being fired.  The man returned to his vehicle, and both drivers pulled into the parking lot on the north west corner of Central and Ridge, where they made contact with officers.

The second driver, a man, 39, who was a uniformed security officer, remained on scene and was questioned by detectives.

The investigation is ongoing.  No Arrests have been made.
