Streets in the area of 4th and Craig were blocked for around five hours as officials worked to talk the man out of the house.

It began just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning as a domestic disturbance call.  The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office says a woman left the home and drove herself to the hospital, where she was treated and released for injuries she received in an altercation.

She told officers the man had armed himself with a handgun.

Officers found a man had barracked himself inside the residence and refused to respond to their requests to exit the home.

At around 4:30, the suspect exited the residence on his own accord, and officers were able to take him into custody without incident.
